Turkey reduced purchases of sunflower seeds in November 2021
About 45 thousand tons of sunflower seeds were imported into Turkey in November 2021. Such data are cited by OilWorld (Germany) analysts in their latest report.
Compared to the same month last year, oilseed import indicators have almost halved – from 87 thousand tons.
As specified, the main volumes in the reporting month were supplied from Ukraine and Moldova – 16 thousand tons and 15 thousand tons, respectively. Another 7 thousand tons of sunflower seeds were imported from Romania.
In total, since the beginning of the current MY (September-November), the purchase of sunflower seeds for 3 months of the season has decreased – from 124 thousand tons (September-November 2020) to 80 thousand tons.
Of the indicated volume, 28 thousand tons of oilseed were supplied from Romania, 20 thousand tons – from Ukraine and 16 thousand tons – from Moldova.
Recall that in November 2021 Turkey also purchased the maximum volume of sunflower oil in 5 years for this month – 93 thousand tons, which is more than 2 times higher than in October.
