Turkey gained a firm foothold among key importers of Ukrainian barley
Exports of Ukrainian barley in December 2021/22 totaled 244 KMT (-44% from November, +244% from December 2020/21). 5.23 MMT had been exported since the beginning of the season (+39% y-o-y) that is an all-time high for this period, UkrAgroConsult reports.
In December, the largest volume went to Turkey (136 KMT), which has firmly established itself as the second biggest importer of Ukrainian barley.
All main buyers stepped up imports from the same time last year: China (+1%), Saudi Arabia (+9%), Libya (+18%), Jordan (up fourfold), Tunisia (+45%), Israel (+18%), the EU (doubled), Iran (up fivefold), Algeria (+6%).
Saudi Arabia, Israel, Iran and Algeria made no purchases of Ukrainian barley in December.
