Three vessels with agricultural products for Asian countries left Ukrainian ports
Today, on March 27, as part of the “Grain Initiative”, the ports of Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi shipped 3 vessels with food for Asian countries. Among them is the bulk carrier ASL ILEANA with 54.6 thousand tons of wheat for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is facing an economic crisis that has left the population facing the problem of buying food at high prices. At the same time, the country remains a key consumer of Ukrainian wheat – since the launch of the Grain Initiative, the country has received more than 710 thousand tons of wheat from Ukraine.
These volumes could have been higher if the Russians had not deliberately slowed down ship inspections in Turkey.
Moreover, thanks to the Grain Initiative and the availability of Ukrainian grain on the market, global food prices are being kept from rising further. This allows countries such as Bangladesh to provide food to their population.
Since August 1, 848 vessels have left the ports of Greater Odesa, exporting 25.9 million tons of Ukrainian food to Asia, Europe and Africa. Currently, 19 vessels are loading 680 thousand tons of agricultural products in the ports of Greater Odesa. Three vessels are moving along the grain corridor for loading.
The situation with inspections in Turkey’s territorial waters is consistently difficult: an average of 6 inspections are carried out per day, both at the entrance to and exit from ports (half of the approved plan), and 94 vessels are waiting in line for inspection.
