Third round of negotiations between European Commission and Central European countries on Ukrainian grain ended in fiasco – Polish Radio
The third round of talks between European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis and Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski with the agriculture ministers of the five countries that banned imports of agricultural products from Ukraine ended in failure.
This is stated by RMF FM.
During the negotiations, the European Commission demanded to see statistical data proving the damage caused by Ukrainian grain imports to these countries.
In a rather harsh manner, the EC informed the agriculture ministers that the adoption of the farmers’ support package (EUR 100 million from the anti-crisis reserve, consent to include certain agricultural products in the list of those banned from import from Ukraine and assistance in grain exports) depends on the lifting of unilateral import bans.
The European Commission once again emphasized that the EU should develop a common approach to this problem, as unilateral decisions by individual countries could harm the EU market as a whole.
