The United States is not discussing the possibility of escorting ships with Ukrainian grain in the Black Sea. This was announced by John Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator of the US National Security Council.

“There is no active discussion about the deployment of warships to the Black Sea. This will only increase tension and increase the possibility of a potential conflict between the West and Russia, and this is not what we want. We want the grain to come out (from Ukraine to the foreign market – ed.). We want the ‘grain deal’ to continue and, in short, we will work with allies and partners to find other land or possibly river routes, if any are available,” he said.

On July 24, The Times reported that the United Kingdom is negotiating with NATO members and other countries to send warships to the Black Sea to protect cargo ships carrying Ukrainian grain. According to the newspaper, negotiations are underway to create a so-called “coalition” of different countries that could join the British initiative.

“The ‘coalition of the willing’ will seek to break the Russian blockade in a few weeks by providing a ‘protective corridor’ from Odesa across the Bosporus,” The Times reported.
