There are no additional conditions in the “grain deal” – Ukrainian Foreign Ministry

Under the grain deal, Ukraine has the right to supply its grain to the world for another 120 days. The agreement does not mention any additional conditions, except for the supply of grain by sea. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Mykola Tochytskyi.

“First, you should clearly remember that we signed an agreement with Turkey and the UN, so we have obligations to fulfill to the international community, the UN and Turkey. We have declared to our partners in the UN and Turkey that we reserve the right to supply our grain for such a long period (120 days – Ed.). It’s hard for me to say what Russia signed and what it declares,” Tochytsky said.

Commenting on Russia’s announcement to extend the grain agreement for 60 days instead of 120, he said that it was “another game of subjectivity and an attempt to show that nothing will happen in the world without them.”

“But in reality, this is not true. There are enough countries that have realized during the year of war who is the aggressor and who is the victim, who defends themselves and helps the world fight mass hunger, and who creates obstacles to spread this hunger and thus gain influence in a particular region,” Tochytsky said.

Commenting on Russia’s alleged communication of its position to the Ukrainian side, the deputy minister reminded that Ukraine has no diplomatic relations with Russia.

“Obviously, they were transmitting something through one of their partners, of which they have few. However, I am not personally familiar with this yet,” Tchochitsky added.

He also rejected the conditions put forward by Russia for the extension of the grain deal.

“If you look at the agreement that we signed, it refers to the supply of Ukrainian grain by sea,” the deputy foreign minister emphasized.

According to him, Russia has chosen the only way – to create obstacles and a coalition around it, which will say within international organizations that “poor Russia” is suffering from the war with Ukraine.

“But they started the war and this is, frankly, nonsense, no one is preventing them from doing anything,” Tochytsky summarized.
