The sunseed harvest in Kazakhstan may be reduced by 30-40%
In Kazakhstan, as of the beginning of this month, the stocks of oilseeds amounted to more than 967 thsd tonnes, according to the data of the National Statistics Bureau of Kazakhstan. As of the reporting date, the largest amount of oilseeds was concentrated in North Kazakhstan (326.9 thsd tonnes), Kostanay (156.4 thsd tonnes) and Akmola (122.9 thsd tonnes) regions.
It should be noted that as of October 1, the country had 322 thsd tonnes of sunflower seeds in stock, which is 112 thsd tonnes lower than in July and 190 thsd tonnes less than the same date last year.
The National Association of Oilseed Processors (NAOP) warned the day before that due to dry weather conditions and lack of precipitation during the growing season in the main sowing regions, the sunseed harvest could be reduced by 30-40% and will not exceed 850 thsd tonnes. Oilseed crushing plants will be forced to operate in conditions of raw material shortage, according to NAOP.
In addition, according to the Bureau of National Statistics, at the beginning of the month, Kazakhstan had almost 330 thousand tons of flax, 163 thousand tons of rapeseed, 99 thousand tons of safflower, and 36.4 soybeans.
