Sunseed and soybean sowing campaign has been completed in Ukraine

Sowing in Ukraine continues, buckwheat is sown 81.9% of last year’s figures, 73% of the area from last year’s indicators under sunflower has already been sown, soybeans – 96.6%. Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Kyiv, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, and Chernivtsi regions have finished sowing spring wheat, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

In general, sowing of spring cereals and pulses was completed by 80.6% of last year’s figures.

As of June 2, 2022, the projected sown areas of the main spring crops for the 2022 harvest in the territory controlled by Ukraine are 14,161.3 thousand hectares, which is 2,755 thousand hectares less than last year (16,916.3 thousand hectares ).

According to the operative data of the structural subdivisions of the regional state administrations, which ensure the implementation of functions on agro-industrial development, the sowing of spring crops is carried out by 23 regions of Ukraine, except Luhansk, where fighting is taking place.

So all categories of farms have sown:

• 189.3 thousand hectares of spring wheat (approximately 162.8 thousand hectares were sown in 2021);
• spring barley 948.3 thousand hectares (approximately for this period in 2021 were sown 1,337 thousand hectares);
• 32.4 thousand hectares of spring rapeseed (approximately 33.2 thousand hectares were sown in 2021);
• oats 157.4 thousand hectares (approximately for this period in 2021 were sown 177.9 thousand hectares);
• peas 130.6 thousand hectares (approximately for this period in 2021 were sown 214.7 thousand hectares);
• buckwheat 68.8 thousand hectares (approximately for this period in 2021 61.6 thousand hectares were sown);
• millet 47.3 thousand hectares (approximately for this period in 2021 78.1 thousand hectares were sown);
• corn 4,552.7 thousand hectares (approximately for this period in 2021 5,167.2 thousand hectares were sown);
• sugar beets 180.6 thousand hectares (approximately for this period in 2021 were sown 224.7 thousand hectares);
• sunflower 4,573.8 thousand hectares (approximately for this period in 2021 were sown 6,293.3 thousand hectares);
• soybeans 1,195.7 thousand hectares (approximately 1,237.5 thousand hectares were sown in 2021);
• potatoes 1 104.9 thousand hectares (approximately 283.1 thousand hectares were planted in 2021).

Crops are cared for in agricultural enterprises.

According to the State Statistics Service, sowing of winter crops for grain for the 2022 harvest was carried out on an area of ​​7.6 million hectares, which is 0.3 million hectares less than in 2021, including:

• 6.5 million hectares of winter wheat and triticale were sown, which is 0.3 million hectares less than in 2021,
• rye sown 109 thousand hectares, or 63 thousand hectares less,
• 969 million hectares of barley were sown, which is 163 thousand hectares less.

In addition, winter rapeseed was sown on an area of ​​1,414,000 hectares, which is 442,000 hectares more than in 2021.
