The situation on the border with Poland: strikers are rampaging and preparing to blockade two more checkpoints
Polish farmers have announced that they will block the Ustyluh-Zosin and Uhryniv-Dolhobyczów checkpoints on the border with Ukraine starting today, February 12. This was reported on television by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko.
According to him, the movement of freight transport at these checkpoints may be suspended from approximately 10:00 a.m.
According to Demchenko, the Yagodyn-Doroguzk checkpoint, where about 700 trucks are waiting in line to enter Ukraine, and the Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne checkpoint, with a queue of 400 vehicles, have been blocked since February 9. About 1,000 trucks have gathered at the Krakivets checkpoint, although this direction is not currently blocked.
At the same time, the protesters do not restrict the passage of cars and buses crossing the border.
The Shehyni-Medica checkpoint was unblocked on February 10. But Demchenko suggested that the blocking would be resumed.
At the same time, the police of the Polish city of Chełm launched an investigation into the incident that occurred on February 11 with trucks loaded with Ukrainian grain near the border crossing point in Dorohusk. This was reported by Polish Radio.
According to the police, farmers protesting nearby stopped three Ukrainian trucks and poured grain from them onto the road.
“After the paperwork was completed, three trucks driven by Ukrainian citizens entered Poland. The protesters did not let the vehicles through and at some point opened the trailers, causing the grain to partially spill onto the road. The drivers turned back toward Ukraine,” said Eva Chyzh of the Chełm City Police Department.
According to her, there were no fights or other dangerous situations.
“We are conducting an investigation, identifying the persons involved in the incident, interviewing witnesses,” the police representative said.
The materials will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for criminal and legal examination.
