The free trade agreement between Ukraine and Turkey opens up new business opportunities – Zelensky
The free trade agreement between Ukraine and Turkey opens up new business opportunities and is the result of three decades of cooperation between the two countries, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said.
He said this at a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan following their meeting in Kyiv on Thursday, February 3.
“Exactly 30 years ago, Ukraine and Turkey established diplomatic relations. Today, a very significant event has become the result of three decades of cooperation and friendship — our countries signed a free trade agreement. This is a historic moment. […] These are new business opportunities, new markets, new gains, new profit, new jobs, investments, GDP growth of our states and the well-being of our peoples,” Zelensky said.
He added that bilateral trade with Turkey has grown over the past year and reached a record $7 billion, whereas the free trade agreement will allow the two countries to achieve a trade turnover of $10 billion faster.
Zelensky thanked the negotiating teams of Ukraine and Turkey.
Earlier reports said that Ukraine and Turkey had signed a free trade agreement.
