The first UDS caravans with European grain are being prepared for unloading in Constanta
The caravans pick up ore in Ukraine, deliver it to Smederevo, go to Hungary, where they load grain and head to Constanta, Romania.
The first caravans of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company with European grain are preparing to unload in Constanta.
“The pilot voyages were difficult because they coincided with the period of shallow water. Nevertheless, even under such conditions, the new logistics route proved to be successful,” the statement said.
Voyages to the Middle Danube last up to a month. The caravans pick up ore in Ukraine, deliver it to Smederevo (Serbia), unload it, wash it, and go to Hungary, where they load grain and head back to Constanta, Romania.
“UDS works directly with the owners of the cargo – one of the largest steel mills in Europe and a major international grain trader,” the shipping company added.
If UDS caravans can operate 24/7, it will reduce the caravan turnaround time by about a week, which will increase profitability by 20%.
