The EU’s share in Ukrainian corn exports keeps shrinking

Almost 18.5 MMT of corn has been exported from Ukraine this season. This is 25% lower compared to a year ago, UkrAgroConsult reports. 2.6 MMT was exported in April (+1% from March and -15% from April 2019/20).

China continues to be the top consumer of Ukrainian corn, while the EU cuts purchases from month to month. As a result, the European share in Ukrainian exports fell to 30% (32% a month earlier).

Iran has been showing a rapid pace of corn purchases for a second successive month (244 KMT in April). This made the country the fourth biggest importer of Ukrainian corn.

As of late April, China was the only importer that had increased imports of Ukrainian corn from last season (twofold), while other buyers, on the contrary, had reduced them: the EU (-41%), Egypt (-41%), Iran (-22%), Turkey (-59%), Israel (-45%), Algeria (-46%), Tunisia (-24%), Libya (-40%).
