The European Commission and Central European countries have not reached an agreement on Ukrainian grain
The parties failed to reach an agreement during a videoconference between Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis and representatives of five Central European countries on the import of agricultural goods from Ukraine.
This was reported by RMF FM.
Negotiations with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria will continue tomorrow at the level of agriculture ministers.
According to the radio station, the European Commission is ready to make concessions.
In particular, the EC is ready to expand the list of goods subject to the ban on imports from Ukraine.
“There is progress, and the negotiations are moving in the right direction,” said one of the participants of the meeting from the Polish side.
So far, the European Commission has only agreed to ban imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds. Rumors are circulating that it will be ready to add other products from the list presented by the five countries’ agriculture ministers on Friday, such as eggs and poultry, to the list of restrictions.
Further logistics developments in the Black Sea region and globally will be discussed by UkrAgroConsult analysts and leading agribusiness operators at the international agro event EURO GRAIN HUB Exchange & Forum on April 26-28 in Bucharest, Romania. Join the key stakeholders from the Black Sea region, Central & Eastern Europe and Balkans, contributing to the global commodity supply chain.
