The EU allocates 1 billion euros for the export of Ukrainian grains
The EU is mobilizing 1 billion euros to export grain from Ukraine through “Solidarity Paths”. The corresponding declaration was published by the European Commission, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in his address, thanked the entire united Europe for the constant support that Ukraine has received since the first hours of the Russian invasion.
Thus, the European Commission will urgently allocate grants for 250 million euros for the development of export “Solidarity Paths”. This will reduce waiting time, improve traffic through border crossing points and access routes to them.
In addition, EUR 50 million will be mobilized through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for the development of the infrastructure needed to further increase the capacity of solidarity routes.
And by the end of 2023, the European Investment Bank plans to invest up to 300 million euros in projects that meet the goals of the “Paths of Solidarity”. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will invest the same amount during 2022-2023.
Another $100 million will come from the World Bank.
“Please know: your defense, financial, political and humanitarian aid has made it possible to save millions of lives. This is solidarity that clearly demonstrates the strength of European values. When Europe is truly united, no tyranny can take away the freedom of Europeans,” the President of Ukraine emphasized in his video address regarding the implementation of the EU initiative “Paths of Solidarity”.
He emphasized that, despite Russia blocking the export of Ukrainian agricultural products, it was possible to open a new way of economic life through the territory of the European Union. “And on this road of life, we established a supply that is critically important not only for Ukraine, but also for the whole of Europe and many other countries – Europe’s partners,” he said.
“On the eve of the half-year anniversary of the Solidarity Lanes initiative, I confirm our readiness to continue working together with you to further strengthen our Europe. Strengthen economically and socially. Strengthen our states, our companies, our people,” added the President of Ukraine.
The video address of the Head of State together with the speeches of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the leaders of neighboring countries was broadcast on the main television resource of the institutions of the European Union Europe by Satellite and other EU information channels.
