Until the end of the year, the ban on the export of buckwheat will continue to apply in Ukraine. About how long this ban will last and when it will be lifted, he told on the air “Suspilne. News” First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi.

“Until the end of the year, the ban on the export of buckwheat will be in effect, whether it will be extended from January 2023, we will understand at the end of November, as its collection is still ongoing. When we see that the production, which was forecast at the level of 140 thousand tons, will already be in our warehouse, then we will be able to talk about something. But there definitely cannot be free export,” he assured.

At the same time, Taras Vysotsky noted that Ukrainians need 110,000 tons of buckwheat for domestic consumption. He also explained why the decline in the price of buckwheat is more gradual than predicted.

“In September, there was an abnormal amount of precipitation, and in fact, for 2-3 weeks, the collection of all crops stopped, including buckwheat. In the summer, there was an expectation that farmers would harvest the crop in September, and in October it would already be on the market. Therefore, the final effect of the price will be achieved for the consumer in November,” Taras Vysotsky emphasized.

As for other cereals, there will be no shortage either, assured the First Deputy Minister. 99% of their production is domestic, so Ukrainians will have more than enough grown grains for domestic consumption.
