Poland will impose a ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products starting April 19. This was announced at a press conference on Monday by Agriculture Minister Robert Telusz.

The Polish Ministry of Agriculture tweeted that Telusz, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Anna Hembika, met with representatives of the Dorohusk-Yagodyn border crossing services and informed them of the enactment of a resolution to suspend imports of agricultural products.

According to him, the border guards assured that there were no products listed in the regulation at the border.

As reported, on April 15, after a farmers’ congress, the Polish government banned imports of grain and other agricultural products from Ukraine until June 30 to protect the Polish agricultural sector. On April 16, Hungary also announced a temporary ban on imports of grains and oilseeds from Ukraine. On April 17, Slovakia banned imports but allowed transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through its territory. The Czech Republic stated that it did not plan to unilaterally ban imports of Ukrainian agricultural products, but was working on a joint solution to the problem at the EU level.
