A subsidy of €30/ton for the transportation of Ukrainian agricultural products to distant ports could significantly accelerate exports this season. This opinion was expressed on TV by Mykola Solsky, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

He noted that the prospect of using ports located far from Ukraine was considered last year. In the summer of 2023, in anticipation of the new harvest, government representatives held talks with the European Union and asked for compensation for transit to the ports of Lithuania and Latvia, Germany, the Netherlands, as well as to the Adriatic ports of Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy.

The minister clarified that the cost of transit of Ukrainian agricultural goods in railcars from the Ukrainian border to the port in Gdansk is approximately €40/t, and to Hamburg – €70/t. According to him, prices are constantly changing, as this is a market that depends on seasonality and many other factors.

“We believe that the compensation of 30 €/t is, in principle, similar in all directions. This is something that will add dynamics and solve many issues,” said Solsky.
