Sunflower crops in Kazakhstan for 10 years increased by 308 thsd hectares and will continue to grow
Over the past ten years, since 2014, the area under oilseed crops has increased by 499.1 thousand hectares and amounted to 2799.5 thsd hectares in 2023. Of these, sunflower crops increased by 308.2 thsd hectares and reached 1,157.4 hectares, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic reported.
According to the Ministry, this is only 1.25% of the sown areas of the country. In accordance with the ongoing policy on diversification of the crop sector, measures are taken to increase sown areas and production of high-margin crops. This means that the area under oilseeds will grow, – this was reported in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to regional akimats, the total sown area this year amounted to 23.8 million hectares. Of these, 2,976.3 thousand hectares were sown with oilseed crops.
In Kazakhstan from February 1, 2023, there is an export duty on export of sunflower seeds in the amount of 20% of the value of the cargo, but not less than 100 euros per ton. Producers receive subsidies of up to 22 thsd tenge per ton for domestic market, i.e. for processing by domestic oil refineries.
