Soybean new crop planting reaches 96.8% of Brazilian area

The planting of the new Brazilian soybean crop advanced into the last areas to be sown between December 11 and 17. Albeit slower in the South due to low moisture and in the North and Northeast due to excess moisture, the pace of work remains above the national average.

According to a survey carried out by SAFRAS & Mercado until December 17, Brazilian growers have sown 96.8% of the total area expected for the country in the 2021/22 crop. The percentage is equivalent to approximately 39.514 million hectares sown, out of a total of 40.510 million hectares estimated for planting. In the week earlier, the percentage was 96.8%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage reached 95.7%, while the five-year average for the period is 96.8%.

In Rio Grande do Sul, out of an expected total area of ​​6.33 million hectares, 91% were sown, or approximately 5.760 million hectares, against 89% the week earlier. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage was 89%, while the five-year average for the period is 94.8%.

In Paraná, the planting is over in a total area of 5.65 million hectares estimated for the state. For the week earlier, the same period last year, and the five-year average, the index is 100% complete in the comparative period.

In Mato Grosso, out of an expected total area of ​​10.95 million hectares, 100% were sown. For the week earlier, the same period last year, and the five-year average, the index is 100% complete in the comparative period.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, the planting is complete in an estimated total area of ​​3.57 million hectares. For the week earlier, the same period last year, and the five-year average, the index is 100% complete in the comparative period.

In Bahia, out of a total area estimated at 1.72 million hectares, 97% were sown, or approximately 1.668 million hectares. In the week earlier, the index was 95%, while in the same period last year the percentage was 100%. The five-year average for the period is 99.2%.

Weather forecasts point to another week of very moist weather in the central range and the northern half of the country and little or no moisture in the southern half between December 17 and 23.

For the period between December 24 and 30, practically the same conditions are expected, which increases the alert about the Brazilian crop.
