Slovakia is already studying Ukraine’s plan to export agricultural products and considers it potentially acceptable. This was discussed at an online meeting between Mykola Solskyi, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, and his Slovak counterpart Josef Bires.

The ministers discussed cooperation in the agricultural sector, in particular, the export plan proposed by Ukraine to the European Commission.

Bires emphasized the importance of bilateral understanding on the issue of agricultural exports.

According to him, Slovakia is already studying the Ukrainian action plan and believes it can be adopted.

The ministers agreed to finalize the plan as soon as possible and to coordinate the situation.

Last week, the European Commission announced that it would not extend restrictions on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine after September 15, but Kyiv agreed to take measures to limit imports on its part.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Kyiv was offering the EU and its neighbors a compromise: Ukraine will introduce control and verification measures for exports of four groups of goods.

Ukraine has also officially requested consultations with Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary within the WTO.
