Sergey Feofilov, General Director of UkrAgroConsult betting on optimistic corn crop in Ukraine

UkrAgroConsult continues reporting on a serious gap in 2020 grain crop estimates that generates broad range of speculation and rumors.

A pessimistic forecast is based on the drought in the main grain-producing areas: Odessa, Kherson, Zaporizhia. In total, about 27% of wheat and 40% of winter barley are harvested in these three regions. Optimists say the critical situation with soil moisture is very spotted, and the rains in the late April and early May arrived on time and corrected positively the crop conditions.

UkrAgroConsult confirms its optimistic scenario given the expected precipitation in the next 10 days, incl. in the southern regions.

According to Sergey Feofilov, UkrAgroConsult’s corn production estimate is the highest – at 36-36.5 million tons. At the same time, it’s at greatest risk as global corn stocks remain high.

Sunflower and soybean harvest are also very optimistic due to high demand and attractive prices.
