Second vessel with Ukrainian wheat arrives in Turkey

On Sunday, September 24, the second shipment of Ukrainian wheat arrived in Turkey via the Black Sea, despite Russia’s threats to attack the boats moving by sea. This was reported by France24, citing data from shipping monitoring sites.

The Palau-flagged bulk carrier Aroyat, loaded with 17,600 tons of wheat, used a temporary corridor established by Kyiv to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea. It left Chornomorsk on Friday, September 22 and headed for Egypt.

According to the Marine Traffic and Vessel Finder websites, the Aroyat was near the southern exit of the Bosphorus Strait at 03:00 GMT on Sunday.

The vessel arrived for loading at the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk on September 16, 2023. In addition to Aroyat, the bulk carrier Resilient Africa has also confirmed its readiness to use the route to the port of Chornomorsk to load almost 20 thousand tons of wheat for African and Asian countries.

It should be noted that the first vessel loaded with 3 thousand tons of wheat, also flying the flag of Palau, left Chornomorsk without incident on Tuesday and arrived in Istanbul on Thursday.

On July 17, the grain agreement aimed at guaranteeing the safe passage of ships from Ukrainian Black Sea ports expired, and the Kremlin announced that it would stop participating in the initiative. Therefore, Ukraine has opened temporary routes for merchant ships moving to or from seaports across the Black Sea.
