Second Grain from Ukraine summit will take place this fall, – MFA

Already this fall, Ukraine plans to hold the second Grain from Ukraine summit, which will help ensure the further functioning of this humanitarian initiative.

The special representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa, Maksym Subh, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

“In the fall of this year, we plan to hold the second Grain from Ukraine summit in order to raise additional funds for this program to function. Therefore, we need to encourage a wider range of countries to join this program,” he said.

Subh added that the initiative was attended by honorary ambassadors – well-known African political and economic figures.

“We even have official appeals from several African countries with a request to help them with grain as part of the “grain initiative”. Now we are looking for logistical tools to ensure this. Because to deliver grain to countries that have access to the ocean, for example, to Ethiopia, Somalia or Kenya, much easier than those countries that do not have it. But we are working with the World Food Program to find ways to meet the needs of these countries,” said Subh.

He added that since the start of the grain corridor to Africa, Ukraine has delivered almost 3 million tons of grain. About 200 million dollars of donor aid was also collected.

As a reminder, Ukraine is working to reduce Russia’s influence in Africa. As reported, the second African tour of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba is planned for the summer.
