Farmers in the state of Parana in southern Brazil had harvested 83% of their 2021/22 soybeans as of earlier this week compared to 88% last year according to the Department of Rural Economics (Deral). This represents an advance of 8% for the week. The crop remaining in the field was rated 59% good compared to 55% the prior week. The improvement was due to the fact that the poorer soybeans had already been harvested. Last year at this time, the soybeans were rated 84% good.

Deral reported that 85% of the 434,200 hectares (1.07 million acres) of the first corn crop in the state was harvested.

Farmers in the state are expected to plant 2.63 million hectares (6.49 million acres) of safrinha corn and 97% of their safrinha corn had been planted as of earlier this week. Deral reported that the safrinha corn was 3% germinating, 84% in vegetative development, 11% pollinating, and 2% filling grain. The corn was rated 3% average and 97% good, which is an improvement compared to the prior week.
