Over the past 9 days, the Russian Federation has damaged and partially destroyed 26 Ukrainian port infrastructure facilities and 5 civilian vessels as a result of attacks.

This was announced by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, following the first meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council.

According to him, the meeting discussed Russia’s obstruction of free navigation in the Black Sea.

“The enemy’s goal is obvious – to deprive the world of Ukrainian food, thus creating a global food crisis,” he explained.

Kubrakov also said that the parties jointly condemned Russia’s withdrawal from the grain initiative and targeted missile and drone attacks on the port infrastructure of southern Ukraine. In addition, Russians are restricting shipping in the area of the temporarily occupied Crimea and near the territorial waters of Bulgaria. By doing so, Russia is effectively blocking the movement of ships towards Ukrainian seaports.

“We must act quickly and decisively. We cannot allow the blockade of the Black Sea by Russian troops. This could lead not only to losses for the Ukrainian economy, but also to a serious food crisis in the world, particularly in such humanitarian sensitive regions as Africa and Asia. We are already discussing possible ways to counteract the enemy’s cynical attacks and obstruction of free trade shipping,” the minister added, noting that NATO allies will step up their intelligence activities in the Black Sea, which will help stabilize the security situation and create conditions for the resumption of normal operation of Ukrainian ports.

At the same time, on the night of July 27, Russians again launched a missile attack on the port infrastructure of Odesa region. This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, on Telegram.

“Russians fired Kalibr missiles from a submarine in the Black Sea. A civilian security guard born in 1979 was killed as a result of the hit. The equipment of one of the cargo terminals was damaged, the security building and two cars were destroyed,” he wrote.
