Russian wheat exports in May hit a low
Just 457 KMT of wheat was exported from Russia in May. This is 43% lower from April and 20% lower from May 2019/20. This volume is the lowest May volume since MY 2012/13.
35.8 MMT had been exported since the beginning of the season, or 7% more than last season but down 8% from the 2017/18 record for this period, UkrAgroConsult reports.
The following countries stepped up wheat purchases from Russia vs. the same time last year: Egypt (+25%), Azerbaijan (+5%), Nigeria (+13%), the EU (+67%).
The following traditional buyers of last season reduced imports from a year ago: Turkey (-18%) and Bangladesh (-27%).
