Russian barley exports in March sharply increased

Almost 783 KMT of Russian barley was exported in March (almost twice as much as the month before and 2.5 times more than in March 2019/20). This season’s exports totaled 5.27 MMT or 56% higher compared to the same period of last year, UkrAgroConsult reports.

The top buyer in March was Saudi Arabia, which imported 321 KMT of barley from Russia during the month (41% of the country’s total monthly export).

The current season has witnessed an increase in demand from the following countries: Saudi Arabia (almost twice as much as in the same period last year), Libya (+31%), Jordan (up threefold), Tunisia (up sevenfold), Israel (up almost threefold).

Last season’s major importers reduced purchases: Iran (-26% y-o-y) and Turkey (-7%).
