Russia threatens to suspend participation in grain deal unless the West lifts some sanctions
Russia threatens to suspend its participation in the grain deal unless Western countries lift some of the sanctions. This is stated in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Russian Federation wants its Rosselkhozbank to be reconnected to SWIFT, restrictions on insurance and reinsurance and the ban on access to ports to be lifted, the Togliatti-Odesa ammonia pipeline to resume operation and the supply of agricultural machinery, spare parts and maintenance, and the assets and accounts of Russian companies involved in the production and transportation of food and fertilizers to be unblocked.
In Geneva, representatives of Russia and the United Nations agreed to extend the grain agreement with Ukraine, which is in effect until March 18, for another 60 days, until May 18.
Meanwhile, Turkey is trying to extend the agreement. Negotiations are ongoing.
