Russia. September witnessed a slight decrease in wheat exports
5.01 MMT of Russian wheat was exported in September. This is 2% lower from August and 2% higher from September 2020/21, but that is a record high for this month.
12.15 MMT of wheat has been exported this season (+1% y-o-y), UkrAgroConsult reports.
In terms of wheat purchases from Russia, last season’s top importer, Turkey, dropped to second place after the “Others” category, most of which is represented by shipments to Iran.
Most importers stepped up purchases of Russian wheat compared to the same time last year: Turkey (+22%), Nigeria (+21%), Saudi Arabia (sixfold), Kazakhstan (+24%).
The following countries reduced demand from last season: Egypt (-21%), Azerbaijan (-37%), Israel (-8%).
