Russia Exports and Imports Less Wheat in September 2021

According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-September Russia exported more than 23.9 mn tons of wheat and meslin, down 3.3% year-on-year. In terms of value, grain export grew by 19.7% up to some $6.2 bn.

Wheat import into Russia during January-September 2021 increased by 25.3% up to 10.9 thousand tons. Corn import, on the contrary, declined by 26.9% down to 31.8 thousand tons. Barley import made 6.6 thousand tons, down 75.5% year-on-year.

In terms of value, wheat import was up 52.2% to $42.1 mn. Corn import declined by 11.2% down to $99.2 mn, and barley import by 54.5% down to $2 mn.

In September 2021 alone, wheat and meslin export made some 4.6 mn tons, down 8.7% year-on-year and down12.3 month-on-month. In terms of value, it increased by 27.9% year-on-year and declined by 4.1% month-on-month to make $1.3 bn.

Wheat import in September made 6.8 thousand tons, down 5.6% year-on-year and up 2-fold month-on-month. Value-wise, wheat import increased by 18.2% year-on-year and by 85.7% month-on-month up to $2.6 mn.

Corn import dropped by 90.9% year-on-year making 100 tons in September worth $100 thousand, just a half of the August 2021 value/

Barley import made 500 tons in September, down 92.2% year-on-year worth $200 thousand, down 77.8% year-on-year. In August this year Russia did not import this commodity.
