Russia exported 16 million tons of stolen grain from the occupied territories of Ukraine – UGA
This year, the Russian Federation has supplied an average of 16 million tons of grain grown in the occupied Ukrainian territories to the world market.
This was announced by the President of the Ukrainian Grain Association Mykola Gorbachev.
“If we assume that about 6 million hectares, which we cannot consider ours, and even if 2 million hectares are under hostilities, 4 million hectares are definitely used for growing (grain crops – ed.). If we take the average yield of 4 tons (per 1 hectare – ed.), we can say that about 16 million tons can be exported on behalf of Russia,” Gorbachev said.
He said that during the first few months, Russia “stole grain from the occupied Ukrainian territories.” Currently, the occupation authorities have their own requirements for farmers.
“If the farmers who are there (in the occupied territories – ed.) have not re-registered their farms and have not received Russian documents, they have no right to engage in any business activity. If the company does not want to re-register, then someone comes and takes the land and grows grain there,” Gorbachev explained.
According to him, about 15-16 million tons of grain “easily” went to the ports of Berdiansk and Mariupol, as well as Crimea, are shipped from there, issued Russian certificates and absorbed by the world market as Russian grain.
Gorbachev suggested that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have more information about these operations with stolen Ukrainian grain, but it is not being disclosed at this time.
