Ukraine is increasing exports of agricultural products through Black Sea ports despite Russian attacks on grain infrastructure.

Ramesh Rajasingham, director for coordination of the UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs, said this during a UN Security Council meeting on December 6, Voice of America reported.

He emphasized that exports through the new corridors announced in August have been steadily increasing. The UN estimates that about 7 million tons of goods have been moved through these corridors, of which about 70% are grains and foodstuffs.

However, he noted that there remains a high level of agricultural exports from russia. Last month, russia reported the first tranche of 200 tons of grain it donated to six African countries.

At the same time, US Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Robert Wood noted that since the beginning of the shelling of grain infrastructure, Russia had destroyed 300 tons of Ukrainian grain. According to him, global food markets are more unstable because of russia’s actions.

“It threatens access to food in other parts of the world. Whereas russia is capturing a larger share of global grain markets at the expense of Ukraine,” he adds.
