Romanian farmers began harvesting corn

Weather conditions. Air temperatures in Romania stayed within +19..+29°C, or above long-term normal levels (4..6°C).

Moisture supply. Precipitation only occurred in western, central and southwestern parts of Romania (25-65 mm), where fair amounts of soil moisture are available. In the rest of the country, high air temperatures continued   intensifying soil drought.

Weather forecast for August 26 – September 2: increased air temperatures will persist in the country (4..6°C above normal, reaching +32..+37°C in the south) and 10-15 mm of precipitation is expected in the west and north. The situation for planting in other regions remains difficult.

Farmers have begun harvesting corn and continue harvesting sunflower. Sunflower and corn yields in the east and southeast of Romania are below expectations, UkrAgroConsult reports.
