Romania is developing ports on the Danube and in Constanta to help Ukraine export grain. The goal is to increase the transit of Ukrainian grain to 4 million tons in October. This was stated by Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, Standard reports.

“We have to help Ukraine export grain. Over the next month, we will try to increase the volume of transportation through Romania from two to four million tons. That is why Romania has invested heavily in ports on the Danube and in Constanta,” he said.

Călacu also commented on the attacks by Russian drones on ports on the Danube.

“Russian drone attacks on ports near Romania are a clear sign that Russia does not want Romania to continue these investments. We will implement a drone warning system in the border areas so that the Romanian population can be informed much faster and better. NATO is also involved in this,” he added.

As reported, on September 4, Ukraine said that two drones had fallen on Romanian territory during the Russian “Shahed” attack on Izmail and Reni.

At first, the Romanian side categorically denied the incident. However, on September 6, the Romanian Defense Minister confirmed that fragments similar to drone debris had been found near the banks of the Danube on the Romanian side and submitted for examination.
