Moisture supply. Heavy showers continue in Romania. This past week, precipitation occurred everywhere, with its rates in the west and southwest reaching 80-125 mm (several times the normal monthly amount).
Soil drought (0-100 cm layer) is reported in small areas in the southeast. Heavy showers prevent pesticide application and promote the spread of diseases, thereby causing farmers to concern about the quality of spring crops.
Heavy showers are forecast to return to Romania this week (June 23-30) that will hamper harvesting of winter crops, UkrAgroConsult reports.
Precipitation rates in the northern, central and southern regions will reach 80 mm over the week – this will continue adversely affecting spring crops.
