Return of rain brings some relief to Argentine soybean crops

Porto Alegre, March 24, 2021 – The rain for the past few days served to stop the deterioration of Argentine soybean crops, according to information from the Buenos Aires Cereals Exchange.

The current production forecast was maintained at 44 million tons, after the cut announced in the previous week, of 2 million tons, due to the dry weather.

At the moment, 6% of the area is in a good to excellent situation, 62% in normal, and 32% in fair to poor condition. In the week earlier, the percentages were 6%, 63%, and 31%, respectively. In the same period last year, the conditions were 33% good, 53% normal, and 14% poor.

The water condition is divided between excellent or adequate (58%) and regular or dry (42%), against 53% and 47% respectively in the week earlier, and 68% and 32% last year.
