Brazil’s pork production will increase by 5-7% in 2023, driven by record corn and soybean harvests, Dutch portal Nieuwe Oogst reports.

USDA’s Global Agricultural Information Network expects a 5 percent increase in Brazil’s pork production in 2023 and 2024. USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) projects production to increase 7 percent in 2023 and 5 percent in 2024.

Pork consumption is also increasing in Brazil due to increased availability. FAS expects exports to increase 8% in 2023 and 7% in 2024.

In 2023 and 2024, the Brazilian industry is projected to benefit from lower production costs, especially for animal feed. This is expected to increase profits. It has been negative for the past two years.

Livestock production in Brazil is predominantly meat, contributing about 40% of the value of agricultural production. Pork production in the country is mainly concentrated in the southern regions.
