Rains intensified soybean planting in Brazil
In Brazil, the soybean sowing campaign has accelerated due to precipitation. The rains were in some arid regions, particularly in Goiás and Minas Gerais states.
Thus, according to the Conab agency, by November 4, 48% of the plan area was planted with the oilseed (+8% per week), which is 10% lower than last year’s value. Experts note that the good condition of soybean crops in Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná.
At the same time, heavy precipitation in the states of Parana and Santa Catarina disrupted the progress of the first crop corn planting, which was completed in Brazil on 40% of the plan (43% in the previous year).
“However, due to irregular rainfall, Brazilian farmers are more focused on planting soybeans than corn,” Conab added.
