The main goal of the Russian missile attacks on Odesa and the region is an attempt to completely isolate Ukraine’s access to the Black Sea and, through an act of intimidation, to prevent and neutralize international efforts to restore the functioning of the “grain corridor”.

This was stated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Yuriy Danilov.

“According to the Kremlin’s plan, artificial conditions should be created to threaten famine primarily for African countries and increase the level of migration threats to Europe. The Russians expect to use blackmail to force the West to negotiate and accept Putin’s “grain ultimatum” – to resume exports of Russian ammonia, lift some sanctions and other restrictions,” Danilov wrote on Facebook.

He notes that the destruction of the Ukrainian infrastructure that ensures the functioning of the “grain corridor” should make the world dependent on Russian grain and its logistics and capabilities.

“The plan is to bring the world to its knees and make Russia a unique grain supplier. After the failure of the idea of an “energy superpower,” Putin wants to become a “grain superempire,” Danilov said.

The NSDC Secretary added that the world and the West must show firmness and steadfastness and give a worthy response to Russia, which will consist in the full restoration of the Ukrainian “grain corridor” under international security guarantees.
