In addition to economic demands, Polish farmers who have blocked the border with Ukraine are also making political demands.

This was stated by Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, during a telethon.

“There are two demands of Polish and European farmers that are identical. This is in terms of easing the requirements of the Green Deal for farmers in the European Union. And it is about the return of benefits and subsidies that have been canceled or are planned to be canceled,” he said.

The Deputy Minister also added that there are other requirements, in particular, of a political nature.

“There are certain demands of a more political nature that have nothing to do with the common agricultural policy, which in principle have nothing to do with the agricultural sector of either European countries, Ukraine or our foreign trade,” Vysotsky said.

According to him, the Cabinet of Ministers is negotiating with the Polish government and relevant ministries. However, there are no such talks with certain political forces in Poland that support the protests on the border.

Vysotsky added that closer communications between the two countries’ agriculture ministers are planned for this week.
