Polish carriers complete blocking of Dorohusk-Yahodyn checkpoint (Updated)
The blockade of the Yahodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint on the border with Poland is over. This was reported on Facebook by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure.
According to him, since 14:00, stable truck traffic has been restored there. Fifteen vehicles have crossed into Ukraine and are at the checkpoint. Also, 25 trucks are being cleared to head towards Poland.
“The blocking of the largest cargo crossing point lasted for more than a month. During this time, the team of the Ministry and the Embassy was literally dealing with the issue of unblocking on a daily basis. We held dozens of meetings and negotiations at all possible levels. It was a difficult job, but it is not over yet. The border must be fully unblocked, and further blockages will not be allowed. We continue to work, taking into account the interests of our carriers and the state,” Kubrakov said.
As for the unblocking of other checkpoints, Demchenko noted that no information had been received from the Polish side so far.
Updated: Polish Minister of Agriculture Anna Hembicka said that the mayor of Dorohusk decided to dissolve the protest of carriers at the border just as the Sejm was debating the exposure. A few days ago, Polish politician Paweł Kowal met with the Ukrainian ambassador and argued that the protest should be stopped.
“According to the protesters, the Ukrainians knew about these plans yesterday. Is this a coincidence? It seems that the new majority plans to start its rule by pacifying the protests at the hands of local government officials,” Gębicka wrote.
As a reminder, Polish carriers have been blocking the Yahodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint since November 6.
