Polish Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk has sent a letter to his Ukrainian counterpart, Oleksandr Kubrakov, urging Kyiv to fulfill the demands of Polish protesters. This was reported by the press service of the Polish ministry.

Adamczyk said in the letter that one of the reasons for the protest of Polish carriers is the electronic queue that Ukraine has introduced for trucks returning to the European Union without cargo.

“This, in turn, makes it impossible to fulfill further orders and reduces the competitiveness of companies. Also, according to the protesters, the new system allows for unequal treatment of carriers from Ukraine and Poland,” the Polish minister said.

In his letter, Adamczyk called for “urgent actions to fulfill the requirements of Polish road carriers, which are under the responsibility of the Ukrainian side.” He proposes to cancel the mandatory registration of trucks in the electronic queue at at least two checkpoints: Zosin – Ustyluh and Nyzhankovychi – Malchovice.

The press service also said that the protesting carriers are demanding, first of all, the restoration of international transportation permits for Ukrainian drivers, which were canceled under the agreement between the European Union and Ukraine on July 1, 2022.

Adamczyk appealed to European Commissioner for Transport Adin Valian to reinstate the need for permits for Ukrainian transport firms.
