Poland will not change its decision to ban grain imports from Ukraine despite our country’s lawsuit to the World Trade Organization. This was stated on Polsat News by the spokesman of the Polish government, Piotr Mueller.

“We are sticking to our position. Such a complaint to the WTO does not impress us, and we do not intend to cancel the embargo we have imposed because of this,” he said.

Mr. Mueller emphasized that the Polish government believes in them: “Our position is the right one, based on an analysis of the economic situation, as well as international and EU law.”

At the same time, the government spokesperson assured that Poland would continue to support Ukraine in light of Russian aggression: “We support Ukraine, but it cannot be that when our economic or agricultural interests are threatened, we will retreat in the face of moral or legal pressure, as in this case.”

As reported, on September 15, the European Commission said that due to the work of the Coordination Platform and temporary measures, market distortions in the five countries bordering Ukraine had been eliminated. In this regard, the EC decided not to extend its decision to ban the import of goods from Ukraine. At the same time, it is noted that Ukraine should take measures to prevent any market distortions in neighboring countries.

At the same time, on September 15, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary imposed national bans on imports of agricultural goods from Ukraine. In this regard, and in accordance with the agreements on dispute settlement rules and procedures under the Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization, Ukraine requested consultations with these countries within the WTO.
