Poland will not lift the embargo on Ukrainian grain until there is a joint decision that takes into account the interests of Polish farmers – Telus
Poland expects to develop a safe and effective solution for Ukrainian grain. This was stated by Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus.
He confirmed that negotiations with his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Solsky are to be held next week. Telus noted that in a telephone conversation with the Ukrainian minister the day before, he called for the talks to be held in a good atmosphere, in particular due to Ukraine’s withdrawal of its complaint against Poland in the WTO.
At the same time, the minister assured that Poland would not lift the embargo on Ukrainian products until a joint solution is found that takes into account the interests of Polish farmers.
“We will not lift our embargo unless we come up with a safe and effective solution to guarantee the interests of Polish farmers and prevent Ukrainian grain from entering Poland,” Telus added.
He called it positive that Ukraine “started talking to Poland directly, not through the European Commission.” The minister also assured that Poland wants to help with the transit of Ukrainian grain through its territory.
