Poland is initiating the inclusion of frozen raspberries and strawberries in the restrictive measures on imports to the European Union. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agriculture of Poland.

“In 2022 and in the first months of 2023, imports of Ukrainian strawberries and frozen raspberries to Poland increased significantly. This means huge difficulties for Polish producers and very serious market disruptions. This problem does not exist in other countries of our coalition (Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary). Therefore, Poland has decided to appeal to European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis to include frozen raspberries and strawberries in the so-called preventive measures, i.e., the ban on imports from Ukraine,” said Minister Robert Telus.

According to him, a letter to this effect signed by the Minister of Development and Technology will be submitted to the European Commission in the near future.

It is also noted that on July 19, 2023, a meeting of the ministers of agriculture of Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova will be held in Warsaw.

At the same time, Robert Telus wrote on Twitter that he called for the initiation of inspections by all state inspectorates of companies that buy and process raspberries due to suspicions of price fixing.
