Poland believes that the extension of restrictions on imports of Ukrainian grain until the end of the year is too short a time.

This was stated by Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus, PAP reports.

He believes that it is better to extend the ban until Ukraine joins the EU and it should be in effect until all issues in the agricultural sector are fully agreed upon between Ukraine and the European Union.

Telus emphasized that grain from Ukraine should go to the markets of Asia or Africa, and not stay in Europe.

“Ukraine cannot join the European Union in the current circumstances, because it will harm Polish agriculture,” the minister said.

He added that it is necessary to create tools that will facilitate the export of Ukrainian grain further outside the EU.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Poland’s borders would not open for imports of Ukrainian grain.
