Poland proposes to ban Ukrainian products by the end of the year
The agriculture ministers of Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary will continue negotiations with European Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis on the import of agricultural goods from Ukraine today, April 25.
This was announced at a press conference by Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus, RMF24 reports.
“After discussions, the European Union has already agreed to some of our proposals. Several products have already been included in the list for discussion, but we have even more products for which we want to fight together,” he said, noting that these are apple juice, poultry and soft fruits.
The current EU proposal includes €100 million in aid to farmers in the five border countries, but this is not enough, Robert Telus emphasized.
He added that Poland will also apply for an extension of the ban on the transportation of goods from Ukraine until the end of December.
“The EU has proposed that it should be (the ban on imports of goods – Ed.) until June. Of course, we do not agree with this. June is not enough, maybe until the end of the year. It is very important for us that the mechanisms we are introducing today work longer, that they protect our Polish market longer,” the minister said.
Further logistics developments in the Black Sea region and globally will be discussed by UkrAgroConsult analysts and leading agribusiness operators at the international agro event EURO GRAIN HUB Exchange & Forum on April 26-28 in Bucharest, Romania. Join the key stakeholders from the Black Sea region, Central & Eastern Europe and Balkans, contributing to the global commodity supply chain.
