Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki said that his country has finally decided not to open the border to import Ukrainian grain. He stated this in the social network X.

“Poland will not allow us to be flooded with Ukrainian grain. Regardless of the decision of Brussels officials, we will not open our borders,” he emphasized.

In the video to the message, Morawiecki emphasized that the EU is now deciding whether to maintain the temporary embargo on imports of Ukrainian food for Poland and other neighbors of Ukraine, which was introduced in the spring.

“I will tell you how it will end: we will not open the border. They should take this into account, because it is up to the Poles to decide how things should look in our own home,” he said.

As a reminder, on September 15, the European Commission is to lift its moratorium on imports of Ukrainian corn, wheat, rapeseed and sunflower seeds to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

However, the Polish government has repeatedly threatened to unilaterally extend the ban on grain imports from Ukraine after August 15, despite the rules established by the EU.

Ukraine insists that the EU should lift its unilateral restrictions on Ukrainian exports and believes that Brussels should reach an agreement with Poland.
