Poland and Ukraine are working on how to resolve problems caused by excessive amounts of Ukrainian grain distorting the Polish agricultural market, the Polish prime minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, has said.

Morawiecki met the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, on Wednesday during the Ukrainian head of state’s first official visit to Poland since Russia invaded Ukraine more than a year ago.

For his part, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during a meeting with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, they had found a way out of the problem of Ukrainian grain exports to Poland.

“We discussed the issues of our farmers – Polish and Ukrainian. We have found a way out, I believe that in the coming days, weeks, we will finally resolve all issues, because there can be no difficulties between such close partners and real friends as Poland and Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

Earlier, the governments of Poland and Romania announced their intention to ask the European Commission to develop mechanisms to help avoid dumping of grain prices to the detriment of local farmers. Polish farmers threatened to disrupt events during Zelensky’s visit to Warsaw.
