President of Poland Andrzej Duda believes that Ukraine and the EU should return regular trade without restrictions, which were previously imposed at the request of Warsaw. He said this at a press conference in Kyiv.

Commenting on the current restrictions on Ukraine’s trade with the EU, Duda said he believes it would be advisable to lift them. “I hope that these decisions should be canceled as soon as possible,” the Polish president said.

The current restrictions are set to expire on September 15, with no plans to lift them early. Maintaining the restrictions for the next two months is necessary for certain preparations that are already underway, Andrzej Duda added: “This time is needed to avoid phenomena that have a negative social impact and to develop mechanisms that will allow for the exchange of goods and transit without negative phenomena.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy added that he had also received confirmation of such plans from the European Commissioner for Trade, Thierry Breton.

“We will see how everything will be unblocked, but he (the commissioner) promised me that there will be no further blocking after September 15,” Zelensky said.

As you know, not all EU countries support this position. In particular, Romania will ask the EU to extend the restrictions on Ukrainian agricultural imports until the end of the year. And Hungary agrees only to ease the ban, leaving two crops under restriction – sunseed and corn.
